Billabong High International School Message For Parents

Dear Parents,

The entire planet is going through its toughest crisis for months now. And the unsung heroes who are helping us tide over this unprecedented time in history are our children. They do not deserve a time like this. And yet, enclosed in four walls, no access to gardens, friends, routine play, or school, they are showing great patience. Not only are they doing their best to adapt to this sudden change, but are doing so with a broad smile.

It is our responsibility to preserve and protect their innocence at a time like this. We may have the best intent, to bring order, schedules and a rhythm into their lives. But let’s also practice patience, and be flexible. Let them go at their own pace. We at Billabong High International School, want to help them learn with joy, the way they want it. We are bringing the school into homes through virtual and digital learning. But we are also toeing the line with love, care and patience. All we need is your support, and co-operation to pull through. The strength of a relationship is tested in trying times. We are confident that with your support, we will all cross over to a better tomorrow.

Sincerely, -Billabong High International School Team

  • When will schools reopen after the lockdown?

    • At Billabong High International School, we are closely following the Government mandates of the lockdown and will adhere to the strict rules of social distancing set by the government for the schools. When a confirmed date for school reopening is set, all parents will be informed of the same. Our schools are ready with a plan of action for the post-lockdown phase. We have strict protocols of safety and hygiene in place that will be followed across all schools. Sanitisation and disinfection of the School Facilities, Transport Facilities and external and internal sports facilities will be taken on top priority. Periodic cleaning will continue during the school session to maintain a hygienic and clean space for all children. Adequate hand-wash and hand sanitisation facilities will be made available at all touchpoints. Students and staff will be screened at the entry point and temperature checks will be performed every day. Staff members will be asked to wear masks and gloves at high-contact points like the Cafeteria, buses, etc. Social distancing norms will be followed in the school premises to limit the contact between students.

  • What is routine cleaning? After the lockdown is lifted, how frequently should school facilities be cleaned to reduce the potential spread of COVID-19?

    • Routine cleaning is an everyday practice that businesses and communities normally use to maintain a healthy environment. Surfaces frequently touched by multiple people, such as door handles, bathroom surfaces, and handrails should be cleaned with soap and water or another detergent at least daily when facilities are in use. In the current situation, more frequent cleaning and disinfection will be required based on the level of use.

Certain surfaces and objects in school spaces, such as desks, computers, door handles, washrooms, cafeteria surfaces, seats; and handles on transport vehicles like school buses, should be cleaned and disinfected before each use. Cleaning removes dirt and impurities, including germs, from surfaces. Cleaning alone, however, does not kill germs. But it reduces the number of germs on a surface. Regular cleaning accompanied by social distancing is a good measure to reduce the spread of germs.

  • Will outdoor playground and sports facilities be put through sanitisation and cleaning processes once the schools reopen?

    • Outdoor areas will be subjected to regular and thorough cleaning and disinfection. Hand sanitizers and hand-washing facilities available at all touchpoints, and children will be urged to wash their hands regularly. High-touch surfaces made of plastic or metal, such as grab bars and railings, would be cleaned regularly. Regular cleaning and disinfection will be carried out of sports equipment and play areas. All protocols of social distancing will be followed here as well.

      • Gloves at all times in the cafeteria and no raw food in the cafeteria
