Billabong High International School Message For Parents

Dear Parents,

The entire planet is going through its toughest crisis for months now. And the unsung heroes who are helping us tide over this unprecedented time in history are our children. They do not deserve a time like this. And yet, enclosed in four walls, no access to gardens, friends, routine play, or school, they are showing great patience. Not only are they doing their best to adapt to this sudden change, but are doing so with a broad smile.

It is our responsibility to preserve and protect their innocence at a time like this. We may have the best intent, to bring order, schedules and a rhythm into their lives. But let’s also practice patience, and be flexible. Let them go at their own pace. We at Billabong High International School, want to help them learn with joy, the way they want it. We are bringing the school into homes through virtual and digital learning. But we are also toeing the line with love, care and patience. All we need is your support, and co-operation to pull through. The strength of a relationship is tested in trying times. We are confident that with your support, we will all cross over to a better tomorrow.

Sincerely, -Billabong High International School Team

  • While the school is closed, how can I help my child to continue learning?

    • • Stay in touch with us at Billabong High International School

      • Billabong High International School is offering Virtual Schooling through zoom, our students can learn at home on any digital device. Get in touch with your Billabong High International School and plan out how your child can take advantage of these Virtual schooling sessions. You may need to assist your child with the initial process.

      • Create a schedule and routine for learning at home, but remain flexible.

      • Have consistent bedtimes, and get up at the same time, Monday through Friday.
      • Structure the day for learning, free time, healthy meals and snacks, and physical activity.
      • Schedule your child’s day in connection with online schooling classes. Make it as routine as possible by arranging it as close to their schooling days.

      • Consider the needs and adjustment required for your child’s age group.

      • The transition to being at home will be different for preschoolers, K-5, middle school students, and high school students. Talk to your child about expectations and how they are adjusting to being at home versus at school.
      • Consider ways your child can stay connected with their friends without spending time in person.

      • Look for ways to make learning fun.

      • Apart from the schooling activities, enjoy hands-on activities like puzzles, painting, drawing, and making creative things.
      • Independent play can also be used. Encourage children to build a fort from sheets or practice counting by stacking blocks, for instance.
      • Practice handwriting and grammar by writing letters to family members. This is a great way to connect and limit face-to-face contact.
      • Start a journal with your child to document this time and discuss the shared experience.
      • Use audiobooks or online streams for events, reading, games, rhymes and other interactive activities.
  • When will schools reopen after the lockdown?

    • At Billabong High International School, we are closely following the Government mandates of the lockdown and will adhere to the strict rules of social distancing set by the government for the schools. When a confirmed date for school reopening is set, all parents will be informed of the same. Our schools are ready with a plan of action for the post-lockdown phase. We have strict protocols of safety and hygiene in place that will be followed across all schools. Sanitisation and disinfection of the School Facilities, Transport Facilities and external and internal sports facilities will be taken on top priority. Periodic cleaning will continue during the school session to maintain a hygienic and clean space for all children. Adequate hand-wash and hand sanitisation facilities will be made available at all touchpoints. Students and staff will be screened at the entry point and temperature checks will be performed every day. Staff members will be asked to wear masks and gloves at high-contact points like the Cafeteria, buses, etc. Social distancing norms will be followed in the school premises to limit the contact between students.

  • What is routine cleaning? After the lockdown is lifted, how frequently should school facilities be cleaned to reduce the potential spread of COVID-19?

    • Routine cleaning is an everyday practice that businesses and communities normally use to maintain a healthy environment. Surfaces frequently touched by multiple people, such as door handles, bathroom surfaces, and handrails should be cleaned with soap and water or another detergent at least daily when facilities are in use. In the current situation, more frequent cleaning and disinfection will be required based on the level of use.

Certain surfaces and objects in school spaces, such as desks, computers, door handles, washrooms, cafeteria surfaces, seats; and handles on transport vehicles like school buses, should be cleaned and disinfected before each use. Cleaning removes dirt and impurities, including germs, from surfaces. Cleaning alone, however, does not kill germs. But it reduces the number of germs on a surface. Regular cleaning accompanied by social distancing is a good measure to reduce the spread of germs.

  • Will outdoor playground and sports facilities be put through sanitisation and cleaning processes once the schools reopen?

    • Outdoor areas will be subjected to regular and thorough cleaning and disinfection. Hand sanitizers and hand-washing facilities available at all touchpoints, and children will be urged to wash their hands regularly. High-touch surfaces made of plastic or metal, such as grab bars and railings, would be cleaned regularly. Regular cleaning and disinfection will be carried out of sports equipment and play areas. All protocols of social distancing will be followed here as well.

  • Will school function as normal after COVID-19?

    • Post the lockdown all the Billabong High International School will function with certain protocols in place to ensure that safety, health and hygiene standards are maintained to prevent the spread of COVID-19:

      • Restocked and updated sickbay and tie-ups with hospitals near schools
      • Regular sanitisation and strictly ensuring that all personnel are wearing masks at all times
      • Gloves at all times in the cafeteria and no raw food in the cafeteria
      • Regular health checkups on campus and temperature scanners at the entrance
      • Health education for all students and strict social distancing at all times
      • Hourly toilet cleaning and sanitisation, reduced AC usage and increased ventilation
      • Schools will set up a monitoring and redressal cell to address health advisory guidelines
  • Will schools continue with online schooling?

    • Schools will be opened as per the Government mandates and with the guidelines of social distancing at the forefront. As per these guidelines schools will be opened up partially or fully depending on the locations and the rules for school-opening set by the government. This will mean that initially. we will have a combination of both physical and online schooling for the children. Furthermore, the Billabong High International School app which has been actively used by students over the past year will be open to students for anytime, anywhere learning.

  • Can we apply for Admission while the schools are closed for COVID-19?

    • Admission processes at Billabong High International School are on and online processes are followed where school counsellors and parents can have the discussion over phone call or video calls and finalise the admissions. During this time, however, as per the guidelines of Social Distancing, school visits are not allowed. Admission to the school can. howeve,r be taken by the parent and the child will return to school once the lockdown rules are uplifted and schools are reopened.
