KKEL curriculum is based on the Multiple Intelligences theory wherein we provide each child and opportunity to

Ever wondered why this sudden shift and talk about including all round education and not just a focus on academics... the world around us is changing faster than we can imagine. We have an uncertain future awaiting us. Jobs that were the norm years back are now being done by machines. Jobs that are available today will not exist years from now. What will make our children strong is developing the Habits of the Mind and Emotional Intelligence.

Why sports

Some of the important attributes that will go a long way with playing sports are:

  1. Improves physical Fitness: The primary benefit of a child participating in any physical sport from an early age is physical fitness. the child is always occupied and spend their energy constructively and in the bargain is slowly building his/her fitness
  2. Inculcates life skills: Sports not only helps in physical fitness, it also helps the child in building important life skills. It helps the child in dealing with social situations at an early age not only with their peers, but also with adults, coaches, their seniors, etc. Sports also helps them in understanding themselves better.
  3. Leadership skills: In a team sport when children are given responsibility and have to take an informed decision in the favour of the team in order to eventually win, it assists them in honing their decision-making and leadership skills. Each child is a leader in their own right and everything they do will eventually lead to a win or lose. Also, when a child leads a team as a captain, he/she learns to manage each individual with their strengths and weaknesses.
  4. Team spirit and sportsmanship: a team sport teaches the child that the team always comes first. The benefit of the self is always secondary. Children learn to adjust with different people in the team despite their likes or dislikes. This eventually will help the child as they will meet all kinds of people they will have to work with, in the real world.
  5. Accepting defeat gracefully: winning and losing is a part of every game and as much as we like winning, putting your best foot forward and then accepting the outcome is the best lesson a child can learn. Enjoying the process of learning or participating rather than product or outcome is important!

Why Performing Arts

Some of the important life skills that children can acquire by choosing a performing art to succeed in life are:

  1. Helps in Self Presentation: picking on at least one performing art helps a child in showcasing their talent to the best of their ability and presenting themselves to the world out there. This will enhance their self belief, self esteem and it also helps them in expressing themselves creatively.
  2. Collaboration: while self-reliance is important, learning to collaborate with others is as important. Over the years they will have to work alongside a maze of people. Pursuing a performing art helps them collaborate with people at a young age
  3. Makes the child Empathetic: Performing Arts help children develop emotionally. Thereby helping them see the world with a new lens. They tend to become more sensitive and empathetic towards their peers and they try and help them in their trying times.
  4. Academics: Research shows that children, who excel in drama, music and dance, tend to eventually develop excellent reading, writing, math and creative skills, thereby helping them in scoring better academically.
  5. Performing Arts allow children to be playful and it introduces them to art and culture of different countries and happenings around the world, thereby helping them to accept diversity. Performing arts also encourages children to explore their curiosity and try out new things, and new ways of thinking or behaving.
