With immense pleasure, we welcome you to delineate the duties of a diplomat of your portfolio/command and officially step into the shoes of an emissary to play a very crucial role of discussing, debating and arguing your country’s stand and approach towards our agenda. We have prepared this background guide, which is essentially to give you some idea about the agenda at hand and to cater your basic research. As the Executive Board, we look forward to inspiring the next generation of MUN delegates by fostering a stimulating, engaging environment. CCC expects you to use your soft skills, critical thinking, fast-paced attitude, analytically approach problems and suggest relevant solutions, exercise competency and discipline and to contemplate assiduously your judgement and opinions. In this background guide, me and my colleagues have used a plethora of international conventions, ratifications, citations, laws, treaties, charters, UNSC-CCC/organisational reports, surveys, UN resolutions etc. which we both hope you all will comprehend meticulously as they will pitch in your speeches and arguments.

Disarmament and International Security Committee
Chair Daivik Mathur
image

Hey everyone, I am Daivik Mathur!
I must admit, my confidence knows no limits. And when it comes to intellect, well, let's just say I surprise myself sometimes. Dramatic? Guilty as charged. Standing tall at 5'10" (or let's just call it 6 feet), I proudly hold the position of the Chair of the Disarmament & International Security Committee. But that's not all there is to me.
You see, I've earned a reputation for my cold-blooded humour, which some find entertaining while others find it a bit controversial. Model United Nations has become a huge part of my life, and I've grown to love it immensely. But don't be fooled, my expertise doesn't stop at MUN. I'm a versatile athlete, excelling in various sports, and I'm a force to be reckoned with when it comes to academics. Oh, and yes, I have a knack for accidentally breaking my own bones (accidentally). You could say I'm quite the jack of all trades.
Now, let's talk about my chairing skills in MUN. I happen to be one of the best chairs you could ever have. I make it my mission to ensure that committee sessions are not only enjoyable but also competitive and constructive. I'm always eager to learn from my fellow peers and, of course, the delegates themselves. I'm easy-going and socially engaging, but let me warn you: you definitely don't want to find yourself on my "naughty list" (trust me on this one). While I don't accept bribes, I won't deny that I appreciate the occasional flattery and compliments. I hope you find some value in this advice and use it to your advantage. And hey, I wish you the best of luck (because let's face it, you'll need it)!
Regards,
Daivik Mathur - Co-Chair, DISEC

India's rich history, diverse culture, and remarkable economic growth make it a fitting backdrop for our deliberations. In conclusion, I extend my heartiest wishes to each and every one of you as we embark on this journey of collaboration and exchange of ideas. Remember that while we might come from diverse backgrounds and perspectives, our collective goal is to find common ground and foster international cooperation for the greater good.
Wishing you all the best for a productive and insightful BHISMUN 2023 G20 Committee session!
Regards,
Shivam Kore, Chair G20

To have the chance to inculcate the powers of world politics into the torchbearers of tomorrow, especially a committee such as G20 nevertheless, where countries work together for the environment and economical state of the world.
With this committee I hope to inculcate an integral skill of life, to make compelling speeches which should quite literally move 'countries' altogether.

Preparation

How do I choose my Committee?

  • Committee choice is the first significant, individual decision that you will have to make as an MUN delegate,

  • When deciding on a specific council or agency, make sure to keep in mind the topic areas. It is imperative to pick a committee with a theme that you will find interesting and enjoy researching on,

  • Often students choose topics that correspond with an area in which they already have a degree of knowledge,

  • Make sure to do light research on all the agendas and then make an informed decision.

How can I research effectively?

  • One should keep in mind a few different types of research:

    • Country Profile -

      • o Basic information about the country you are representing

      • o This can include the foreign policy, economic as well as cultural information.

    • Topic Background -

      • o The details and the technicalities about the agenda at hand

    • Past International Action -

      • o Were any prior resolutions signed?

      • o What stances and statements has your country released on this issue in the past?

      • o Has the stance ever changed? If so, how so and why?

    • Possible Solutions -

      • o How can you propose a solution that both solves the issue as well as is in accordance to your nation’s foreign policy?

  • Make sure that you use reliable sources and keep a record of the different resources you use

  • It is recommended that you start your research at the study guide the EB will hand out but do expand your research beyond it

  • Most important of all - have fun! You will come out of this more aware, educated and hopefully finding yourself interested in the intricacies of policymaking
