We, at Billabong High International School strive towards growth, empowerment and excellence. Billabong High aims to encourage students to develop to their full potential as individuals embracing strong open discerning minds with an international perspective and propel them to make a mark in the global village that the world has come to be today.

What is Model United Nations (MUN)

Model United Nations, is an educational simulation where students through informed discussions learn about diplomacy, international relations and the United Nations.

The process:

  • Participants/Delegates, are placed in committees and assigned countries/other organisations or political figures to represent the members of that body.
  • Assignments / Study Guides are given in advance, along with the topics that the committees will discuss.
  • Delegates conduct research and formulate positions to deliberate with their fellow delegates in the committee, staying true to the actual position of the member they represent.
  • Deliberations and discussions graduate into resolutions which are plausible solutions to the issues/ crisis in question.
  • At the end of the conference, the best performing delegates in each committee, as well as delegations are recognised with awards.

BHISMUN

BHISMUN aims to encourage informed, discerning youth to question confront and explore plausible solutions to issues of most contemporary global significance. New committees have been integrated not pre-existing in the UN that shall enable the discussion of a wider range of issues in the form of agendas. BHISMUN promises to:

  • Be a relevant intellectual experience that offers unique committees like the UNHSC allowing delegates to delve deeper into the occurrences of the past.
  • Develop global perspectives through valid research drive.
  • To allow participants to discover, discuss and debunk world issues enabling them to have a deeper understanding of current world affairs .
  • Realize the potential of an informed generation to bring decisive change in the world at large

Organising Committee

This committee is divided in 5 departments: Finance, Marketing and Communications, Operations, Logistics, Management. Each department consists of one leader who is leading four members under them. Our organising committee is highly experienced, skilled and dedicated. Our central aim is to provide all our delegates with a mesmerising and constructive experience.

We hope to meet our aims and create an amazing experience for you.

Committees

For the First time MUNners

Being a simulation of Model United Nations, formal procedure, also known as ROP (Rules of Procedure) is the baseline for protocol for every delegate. Hence, formal language and approach is expected of every delegate.

The committees in BHISMUN promise an engaging and pluralistic environment for encouraging first timers along with hearing the more experienced MUNers. Every committee has global issues that will be discussed. In formal language, these issues are called agendas. Each agenda has been chosen keeping in mind the committee, its points of focus, comfort of conversation, and the current issues in the world.

Each delegate represents one country or one individual. In case of Lok Sabha, the delegate will be a member of a political party.

How to choose the country and the agenda

To register for BHISMUN, delegates require to fill an online Google Form uploaded on this website. However, some things must be kept in mind when filling the form:

1. Value of choosing the right preferred country:

Every committee has its unique agendas and focuses. It is integral to choose the right country; irrespective of which committee is preferred. A country is what a delegate represents in the committees. If the delegate does not choose the right country as per the agenda, they could be at a loss of points to speak in committee and feel restricted. Therefore, it is essential for the delegate to do a quick search on the agendas to know the involvement of the countries and chose accordingly; whether they want an active country, or a country that has a neutral stance on the agenda

2. How to choose the right country? There is only one way to know the country you had prefer. Research.

All delegates are advised to skim through the agendas before filling the form. Usually, experienced delegates prefer countries that are active participants in the agenda as they can deal with and voice the details of the rigid foreign policy of that country with relevance to the agenda.

First time MUNers often prefer neutral countries as it gives way to their subjective solutions too because their country is not that prominent. Hence, every delegate must chose the right country according to their needs.

3)How to choose the right committee?

BHISMUN offers students a variety of 5 committees to choose from. Their points of focus range from women rights to historic agendas to Indian issues which makes BHISMUN a diverse platform for representation. Given below are the committees:
